Blown exhaust/manifold ?

Hi,

When I start my 1993 SL 500 from cold , it sounds like I have a blown exhaust.
After a few minutes when it is warm the noise stops!
Is this normal?and if so what is it?

You may have a blow, or a tappet getting noisy!

Hi,

Yes I am,so I am in safe hands!

The noise is just like a blown exhaust but when it is just warm it turns of instantly as if a switch has been turned of.

If its a blow then you will have a soot mark from where the blow is!

Other than that, it sounds not so cheap!!

Maybe it is the fuel system?when cold it opens the air for more fuel?
