Blown Kompressor ???

Hi there,
I think my kompressor has blown on my c230 Kompressor sport auto, 1997 R reg.
I just drove to collect my train ticket (6 mile journey) and it was fine on the way there. Driving back though I noticed that it seemed to have lost a lot of power with no whistling noise that I used to get ???
When I tried the kickdown it was very clear that there was no "supercharger" in action. It is a high milage car, 182k miles, but in very good condition.
Might not be connected but it sounds as if the exhaust is blowing now too ???
Any help on trying to diagnose the problem will be greatly appreciated.

This will be the charge air pipe that has split,,,nothing terrible so you can sleep well

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have just parked the car up and it now seems fine ???
Could it have been then when it happened I tried to use the gears manually (ie I went down to 2nd gear from D) and I may have over revved it???
Just wondering if there is some kind of safety valve on the supercharger ???
I must learn how the supercharger works !!!

I will also have a look at the charge air pipe as you suggest.

Under a full charge load,,if it is split it will open up,,then it looks like its gone back to normal,,try and not use the charger and you should be fine till you replace it

What is the exact name for the pipe ?
I've just looked at Eurocar parts (here in england) but I can't see charge air pipe listed ?
Also where abouts is the pipe as I will have a look at it ?
