Has anyone installed a bluetooth car kit to their Merc. I have a C class with COMAND. Does anyone know whether this could be used so that sound would come from speakers and radio would mute?

Thanks for helping.

It should be possibe to do this. You need to find a good auto electrician or maybe go to the dealer to have this done. Radio mute is not a problem , its just a pin on the ISO plug to connect up . The sound coming through the speakers should not be a problem as long as the car does not have a BOSE sound system on it through a lead on www.dashmount.co.uk You should also be able to get the carkit from www.expansys.com

I will warn you before you get anything done .... Remember to get somone good to monkey about with the insides of you car. It has been known for an Auto gearbox to stop working because of a little lets put it mis wiring .... 8)

Ohh , and no one will want to wire up the buttons on the steering wheel and it will not integrate into your command system ....

Thanks fuzzer, that's really useful info.

Funnily enough, Vodafone Corporate, who look after my mobile contract, say that they won't install bluetooth systems into new Mercs as it may interfere with the cars electronics. Is anyone able to verify this - seems strange to me.

I don't believe that about the bluetooth causing problems with the electronics.

I have a 6310i and have the nokia cark91 installed in both my mercedes (2002 e220cdi est and 1998 c240 ) Its fabulous and i have not had any problems with it. Its well worth the cost of the install for anyone who is thinking about it.

I would not shell out on the Bluetooth car kit to be honnest. Depending on what car you have you should be able to get a hard wired car kit and a glass mount aerial for any phone from expansys. I know where you are coming from with the bluetooth , but , Its not worth the extra and i believe it to be a lot more. Plus it does not boost the signal or charge the phone.
