Hi All,
Wonder if anybody can help.....The Bluetooth system fitted to the W204 works pretty well, but I am struggling to input details into the phone book. The only entry in the phone book is the MB help line. From the Manual, it is possible to download the phonebook if using the Telephone Prewiring option, but this is not possible with the Bluetooth (unlike my Tom-Tom!!!) However, I would have thought that it should be possible to manually insert names and numbers into the system somewhere - problem is that I can't find out how to do it....or maybe you can't!

If somebody can help with this, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Ernie

Nope !! . you need to buy the cradle to fit onto your prewire kit, if you want the phonebook to show up on your command unit .... and also to be able to see who's the incoming call etc.

Bluetooth

Thanks Thumper....that's what I was afraid of! Sounds like they want you to buy the cradle, etc to get the full functionality; even my old Tom-Tom can take my telephone directory at not much more money than a cradle will cost me!

You don't have to use the cradle to get phone numbers into the W204's directory, there is another way.

You need to select the appropriate mode on the car's phone system (Receive Business Cards) and then you send each entry from your phone's contacts list as a Business Card to the car. Depending upon the phone you may have to do this with each individual contact or you may be able to "mark" all the contacts and send them in bulk. If you make a change to a contact on your phone then you need to send that contact to the car again - it won't automatically update.

The SAP Bluetooth Cradle gives you more functionality in that it will automatically read and import your phone's address book and automatically update the contact list in the car when you make changes to contact details on your phone.

Hope that clears it up for you.

204 Phone Book

Many thanks, Phil, I appreciate that. I noticed the Business Cards thing and tried it, but my phone might be the problem. Might try it on my wife's phone which is a Nokia and seems to be better catered for than mine. Thanks again,

Ernie

Phone Books

Keith and Phil,
Thanks to both of you! The MB website seems to cover at least some of the phones in current use in UK and is a useful link when trying to see what might work or not.

Just to follow up on Phil's email....I have now downloaded my phone book, albeit one entry at a time and everything works well.

The Bluetooth cradle would certainly be useful, but as only an ocassional user of the phone when in the car, I couldn't justify spending that amount of money(£311 from MB Parts Ltd), especially as neither mine nor wife's phones seem to be compatable with it.

Many thanks for the help!

Ernie
