Do BMW just choose to not fit their cars with indicators or do they make the stalks from crepe paper so it disintegrates after the first use? It cant be a german thing because the indicators work fine on my MB

Strangely enough i would have agreed with you a couple of years ago, but its not just those any more.
Its getting to the point where i find myself acknowledging with a wave someone who actually indicates before turning left at a roundabout whilst also positioning their car in something like a normal approach to do just that, so enabling me to go.

In fact i've noticed some very competent and courteous drivers of better BM's, not to be compared to baseball hatted chavs that these days drive around in more or less anything, but would have been in a XR3i 25 years ago.

TBH its not just driving any more, good manners, care and courtesy have all but vanished.
Hold the door open for a female (i would have said lady, but thats a rare and precious thing and not to be confused with some modern versions) and you are likely to be abused for such sexist patronising stupidity.
Wait politely to take your turn and its seen as some sort of weakness.

If you do encounter someone with manners and a nice demeanor its quite a breath of fresh air, and i don't include the sleazy creepiness of the false salesman.

Pity, this was once such a lovely country to grow up in.

Sorry got a bit carried away there.

I notice some of the police cars around here don't seem to have indicators fitted, but they are Fords, not BMWs!

Juddian, I agree with all you have said.

Sorry you got carried away, not at all, I thought it was just me! I stopped one friday night, peeing down, on my way out as wellso dressed up for a change, to change a wheel for this lady, or so I thought. She told me in no uncertain terms she was quite capable of doing it her self and did not need any man to show her what to do! Crash down to earth and back to reallity.

Ah well at least I married one who appreciates doors opened and tyres changed for her.

Keep it up though, manners maketh a man.

I thought indicators where an optional extra just like everything else on a BMW!!! By the time buyers have specified the basics: seats, wheels and an engine there aint any money left for the luxuries!!! lol

Some cars do get a certain reputation though generally BM have earned theirs!
A friend took a new 5 out for a spin. I waited in the showroom and on return I asked how he liked it. He said the car was lovely but he was beeped 3 times in a 20 min test drive. Nobody bothered him in his primera so it can't be his driving. I took him back to the office in my E and he commented on how people didn't seem to give us any grief. He now drives an E class. For some reason, most drivers like MBs and treat us nicely :)
May have something to do with the large indicator lever!

Although i do moan about BM drivers, the other day i was under taken on the motorway at night at a 'little' above the limit shall we say by an oldish E55 AMG, which made me think maybe he used to own a BMW and finally saw the light, shame he didnt see the light when it came to how to drive!!
