Thanks AndyLooks really nice John. Good choice. What is the range just on the batteries? Does the engine startup when you need the extra power, and does the engine engage again when the batteries are running low. What happens if you cannot charge, is the engine able to charge them up?
Not perhaps the best analogy...Yes to all the other questions and in Sport mode both petrol and electric motors combine - electric powers the front wheels and petrol engine the rears so it is then all wheel drive - corners on rails then
The dark side is gradually indoctrinating you! It’s in today for it’s Oil service & Inspection /Door strut inspection at BMW Shrewsbury (this was part of the deal when I bought the car), quite taken with the courtesy car supplied....
Weird, isn’t it?The dark side is gradually indoctrinating you!
Weird, isn’t it?
A few short months ago I’d have never considered a BMW, I’ve driven 3 really good examples over the past months and I hate to say it but all 3 are excellent. OK the 530 looks a bit ‘boring’, but the i8 is unique, and that new 8 series is a really nice expensive to be......
Only 76k, bargainCorrected that for you
What are the 640d's like to drive John? It’s in today for it’s Oil service & Inspection /Door strut inspection at BMW Shrewsbury (this was part of the deal when I bought the car), quite taken with the courtesy car supplied....
It’s an 840d Andy, must say it’s very capable. It has X Drive (4 wheel drive) so good grip levels and reasonable ooomph . It’s an IL6 so pretty smooth. What are the 640d's like to drive John?
That has been a big draw back A!!My stepson (the one who had the heart attack) has a 640d convertible. His has been mapped to 400+hp and is very rapid. It does a great job of being an inverse TARDIS though.... Huge on the outside and very small inside.
I didn't think you'd like the 840d John. It needs fuel putting in it!
Yes sorry, that's what I meant to type. Looks nice. It’s an 840d Andy, must say it’s very capable. It has X Drive (4 wheel drive) so good grip levels and reasonable ooomph . It’s an IL6 so pretty smooth.
400+hp from a 3ltr diesel is mental. My stepson (the one who had the heart attack) has a 640d convertible. His has been mapped to 400+hp and is very rapid. It does a great job of being an inverse TARDIS though.... Huge on the outside and very small inside.
