Had a quote for new front wing and a rear 1/4 panel behind passenger door fitted and painted by a reccomended Jaguar guy. All oven baked £250
(Panels Thatcham approved) 1999 C250TD

Is this a good quote?

That sounds a good price, the rear panel is not that easy.

A good price

Yes, I would agree - good value. I was given an estimate of between GBP300 - 350 (under warranty) for a rear wing repair (light corrosion) but knowing the amount of work that went into the repair I was more than satisfied with the results.

S class
If ur well pleased with the result bung him another few quid for it is cheap.. tho the wing will be spurious a pattern tpye made in taiwan or italy..some fit good some not so good but a good bodyman will make the imperfections less noticable.

to me it's a bit too cheap.
The gauge I use is 'would I do it for that?' and whilst a front wing is pretty straight forward, the rear is a huge job. I'd have thought £150-£200 for the front wing if they're going to blend in the paint properly and spend time getting the shut lines right. Doesn't leave a lot for the rear which is a way bigger job.

I guess if it's an evening mates rates for cash job then maybe but any proper bodyshop is going to want a lot more than that to do a job you'd be happy with IMO.

I have seen 2 examples of his work and it looks ok. He does it on the side at a main agent dealer with the approval of management but in his own time.
He lives in the same village as me so I would expect he will make a good job as he is the sort of guy that would not want a bad rep. Re the rear panel he could just clean it up and repaint it as it is small and rust is only minor. He has reccomended to remove it and will make a new panel in the workshop so I am confident he knows what he is doing. All in all an excellent price then.
Thanks for all your comments and I will let you know how it turns out at the end of the month.

in which case, if you're happy with his work, sounds good.
Post some pics (before and after).
