Hi
I have to transport a microwave in the Neff shipping package.
Bought a new unused one on ebay, because the new version doesnt match the existing oven. So I am not 100% sure of the dimensions of the transportation box. (I will find out when I get there! )

The height of my boot might be very close +/- 5mm ... and it varies as the roof of the boot is not flat.

Hence my question, I have a self closing boot, press a button and you hear it pull tight! It sounds like a pretty powerful motor.

My question is ... suppose the box is 5mm to 10mm too high, will this self closing feature just keep pulling down like a vice until its locked and crush the box or more worryingly bend the boot?
Or is it clever i.e. realise there is an obstacle in the way, and stop pulling it shut?

With a normal manual boot you could just close it until either you feel resistance or feel its clear, and if it was clear .. then shut it.

Any views?

Thats my default option, but with 99 miles return. It would be nice if it was secured in proper packaging ... so I can really put my foot down lol :)

Sadly its too big for the passenger seat.

I've shut mine manually when distracted on a couple of occasions with no ill effects.

I was just thinking the same... the boot in my CL is big enough for two dead bodies if they had limbs removed and stacked (I’d guess).

Is this an industrial microwave? 18kW or so?

Only just seen this ..... the tail gate on my R Class would just open again if there was an obstruction preventing from closing by itself .... depending on what the obstruction was, a helping shove would 'encourage' it to fully close ;)

Not had the need to try yet o n the ML though I'd assume it was similar/same
