Everytime I Open the boot on my 190E the Boot lid is covered in condensation and when I lift the boot fully up, lots water streams out from the gaps / grooves in the boot lid wetting my Carpet.

Is this a common problem?

most common cause was rear screen leakin, boot becomes damp and condensation forms on lid, check under parcel shelf next 2 hinges 4 water stains

there is a tiny grommet at bottom left corner of lid, if removed stops water gathering and pouring in boot when opened

i take it you have a boot spoiler and if so its the mounting points onto boot (1)remove (rusty philips screws) spoiler and silicone contact points between spoiler and boot lid then re-fit spoiler and you will notice de-humidification within 6 months especially as summer will be here soon but remember the more you leave the boot-lid open in high temparatures (to expel old condensate) the sooner its sorted (p.s) if you don't have a boot spoiler i've just wasted 23 mins typing this (p.c illiterate)...ha-ha hope this helps....lol

Check the slats which are behind the number plate (you need to remove the boot trim inside). They might have been bloked off by a previous owner. (why is my post above the two below?)

Personally in the Winter I always keep a tray of Salt in a footwell in the boot as per the Boat condensation priniciple, changing it every now and then.

Does it work you ask? well the Salt does absorb some of the moisture.

I noticed more dampness in the boot recently(and shoot me down in flames on this one) but I understand that the small fan under glove compartment ventilates the Sunroof area and flows on into the boot?
My connecting pipe was broken. It's not an easy thing to clip it into its place when trying to put on the Heater ventilator hose and somehow raise the part to get it to link into the Central Heater position.
Anyway, airflow was only circulating under the glovebox. Not sure if on later Cars things have changed?

i suspect the same problem with my 190e and the mounting points on my rear spoiler look dodgy(i.e) the spoiler doesn't fit tightly onto bootlid i'm going to remove it and silicone the points of contact

Nope, Spare Wheel well is dry. Going to have another look tomorrow or Saturday after work.
