Boot Lid Springs My CLK Again

Either one or both boot lid springs have broken/ceased to function on the CLK.
Cn somebody provide a exploded drawing?

Has this ever happened before, or is it the result of a poor body job in the past?

Surprised really would have thought these would still be like new when the car is ready to be scrapped?:Oops:

boot springs can stretch a bit with use. Are you sure they're broke?

These springs can elongate the hole where they hook on to the fixed bracket attached to the body. They will eventually break through what little metal that remains.If you're in the vicinity,it is a very loud noise!

Try a cable tie around a couple of the coils each side.

From a user point of view the lid is quite dangerous as is, when raised the hinges swing over centre. As it swings back it slams shut, until one get's used to it and hand it down.

I exspect the lug has snapped on the boot hinge where the spring locates.
