Would you expect to be able to open the boot on a 1997 SLK with the keys or is it central locking only

I read your other thread yesterday, stating that the key would not go in the whole way. Chance are it has never been used, and seized up.

A bit of wd40 or light sewing mahine oil. Use sparingly, as oil atracts dust. Leave overnight. May take a little patience, a bit at a time.

The key can be used to keep the boot locked separately, IE override the RC and internal button. It can also be used to open the booth in the event of a vacuum fail.
