Just thought I'd post more progress on the car, The rear diff mounts were replaced at "the merc medic" near send, Woking. Nice chaps who seem to know their stuff. Not checked their work but I didnt get any bad feelings at all unlike most garages I've been to..

Wow, the car drives so differently now, the bouncy drive I was complaining about has almost all gone.. I put the rest down to my clutch foot.

Also asked the merc medic to check the very minor clunk from the frnot, they said front ARB bushes need replacing.. Easy job that then I think. Will do it sometime but it's not that important right now.

Next on the list is the front passenger electric window (the motor whirs but nothing else happens).

I really enjoyed driving the old girl to work today.. Do all yuo three pointed star owners get a silly grin looking through the 'battle sights'?

you mean, an antiroll bar, couple of links and some screws... I don't have to take the engine out? It's nothing like my land rover you know... Change the headlight bulbs, start by removing the rear bumper!

Anyway I better get these last bits fixed the 'monster' is almost ready now, just in time for some nice cold weather with not a chance of getting serious horse power down through the tyres in a FWD car, at least the air will be nice and cool to get the charge temps down :)

Perhaps when that's running I wont be thinking about turboing the 250TD!

That is not your antiroll bar. Malcolm showed you the W210 model. Your car is the W124 model and there are no drop links, the bar fixes directly to the wishbone via the rubber bushes.

However I think it may be your wishbone bushes (probably nearside) that are wearing, as that will causes clunks.

The front wishbone bushes have a habit of tending to seize and as a result the rear bush does all the work and wear out faster and becomes slack (worn).

The front bush often has to be sawn off as on the W202 cars where it is a very common problem.

New bushes can be pressed in if you have a powerful pressing device after the wishbone is taken off the car.

The place I took it to to get the diff bushes done reckon it was the front ARB bushes, they look reasoably ok to me, but the wish bone ones are definatelty a little cracked. Anyway it can wait until they get a little worse, it's just me being a bit picky.

I've access to a 20 tonne press if needs be, I'd imagine that could handle the bushes :)

For Malcolm, the cappuccino (suzuki) think really does need the bumper taking off to do an indicator bulb - I believe its 2-3 hours labour at suzuki!!
