I am about to buy some Brabus alloys for my CLS and wanted some opinions. First of all, do you think Monoblock V will suit the car?

Next they are 18" (8.5 front and 9.5 rear) - will that be enough (I currently have the 17" on my car).

The offsets are ET35 - will I need spacers or will they go on directly? If I do, what spacers and are they safe, etc?

Thanks!

Check out the options on this website, they only deal in genuine wheels and have the correct ET for the car.

Thanks, but I don't have £3-6k to spend on a set of wheels!

Possibly not but it would give you the correct sizes and ET info plus the MB part numbers....

Thanks - I often use that website for offsets, etc as it is a great source of info and have posted a link many times!

I know that there are no offsets published for Brabus wheels on the site but generally 18" x 8.5j on the front require an ET25 and rears at 9.5j are offset ET28, however these wheels are ET35. Does 10mm at the front and 7mm at the rear make much of a difference? I really don't know as I have never changed my wheels on any car before - advice would be appreciated as well as what people think about how they will look!

Can no one advise on the offsets and also what they think about the looks?

They have some pictures on the site above of various alloys on the car in the gallery.

Yes 10mm makes a difference. You wont find a spacer that is 7mm and hub centric so your going to have to use a 10mm on the back.

Does anyone know what are the correct tyre sizes and load ratings for these wheels?

I have Brabus Monoblock V's plus other Brabus mods that were applied when the car was new on my R129 SL500. I think they look good, are somewhat unique in design and are appropriate for a car of that period (mines a '98). Looks are very personal so you need to decide if they meet your needs and would look good on your CLS. I would suggest some cut/pasting to create a rough PC image.
Mine are shod with Pirelli PZero Rosso 245/40ZR18 and are 97Y rated.

The correct tyre sizes are quoted in the site quoted in post 2. An 18" wheel is an 18" wheel...no matter who makes it. So, you will use the same size tyre no matter. But, just to make it easy:

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/information/fitting_chart/mercedes-benz

Well you say that, but if you look at 18" brabus wheels, they have a different size to the 18" Merc alloys on the same page. Also, there is no load index as that is specific to the car.

For instance under W219:
18x8.5 28 245/40R18 18x9.5 33 275/35R18 Mercedes-Benz
18x8.5 255/40R18 18x9.5 285/35R18 Brabus not CLS55

Your owner's handbook will give the correct load rating for tyres.

Heres a pic of the wheels:

I was also thinking about getting them painted in black and getting a carbon fibre grill to try and create more of this look:

My car currently looks like this:

Any opinions on whether this works or not?

My (rather poor) mock up of new brabus wheels painted in black. What do you guys think? Black or keep them silver?
