Brake Judder 2016 C Class 205 AMG Line 17k miles

Hi, I recently acquired a 2016 C250D AMG Line Estate with just 17k miles. I have noticed a mild judder under light braking when travelling at any speed over 30 mph. Discs and pads still look like new so I'm surprised at this. Can't believe that one of the front discs could be warped as the car looks to have been exceptionally well looked after.
Wondering if there is any significant history of this issue?

others have reported a similar problem on their MB , you could try removing the wheels and thoroughly clean the hub face , this may help

I had disc judder at 5000 miles (from new) on a 2016 W212. MB declined to replace discs under warranty as they claimed it was due to my driving style.

How MB would know your driving style? Bit rich of them to say that !

On a drive today I noticed the judder is coming more from the rear of the car. No vibration/shake is felt in the steering wheel however the front seats start to shake in resonance with the shake. I’m guessing it’s more likely a rear brake disc issue..found a thread on another forum where quite a few 2016 C Class owners were experiencing the same thing.

It's possible that the parking brake mechanism has seized.
I had this problem on my last car and that turned out to be the case. When I removed the nearside rear brake disc the handbrake shoes' friction material had worn almost through and disintegrated.
The culprit was a mix of backplate corrosion and cable seizure meaning that the parking brake wasn't completely releasing.

Replacing parking brake shoes, clips & springs, cable and brake disc then cleaning up the backplate solved the issue.

They wouldn’t, and I don’t ride the brakes anyway. I told them exactly how impertinent they were :)

There is a special torque range and way you are spost to tighten the wheel up , 20nm, 70nm and then 130 nm, you have to share the tightening in a order and not one by one, merc say that can put the two piece disk out of true, also if the disk is dropped it can’t be used!!

I was thinking wheel needs removing, hub wire-brushing, rear wheel face wire-brushing, and wheel nuts torquing correctly. Whilst wheels are off caliper/discs bolts checking too. About half-hours work.

I just bought a car with zero disc retaining bolts (snapped studs I had to drill and re-tap), this means the discs were using the wheel studs to brake against. Both front calipers had slightly wound-out bolts on the hangers (no loctite), and there was a slight weep on a rear caliper nipple.
This car had a full MOT with no advisories:-O
Always worth inspecting brakes when buying a new motor regardless of age/mileage. You may find your wobble resolved.

This. You got to handle them in a certain way, not pull or push on them when turning steering with wheel off and not lever on them to push calliper back. These discs have to handled like your grannies best china. Thanks mb.

Update:new OEM front discs and pads fitted today. Obviously need bedding in but has definitely removed the judder.

Just been through this journey. Dealer had refurbed the wheels and the company didn’t clean the mating face to the disc. Welcome to warped discs. These two part discs with fixed callipers are very sensitive.

Had the same thing on a bmw. Paint wasn’t removed from rear of wheels before refitting so they wobbled and wobbled and wobbled. They were rebalanced by the garage as that’s what they said was at fault, unfortunately the recently fitted brembo discs were now untrue.
Lesson learned.

Don't talk to me about dealers and warranty. Accusing me of not driving my car showed they tracker so they are chatting shite. , and causing the disc to corrode, causing Judder. Told me they were old. Lol. I pulled out invoice showing they were 3 months old, but they said no. Our tech has the last word and he's the expert. So they are fitted wrong ffs. Clowns
