Hi guys
I put in here a while ago about my front brake judder on my 2002 W220 S500 i did resolve it by taking out pads sanding them down and all seemed good......until today when the judder came back and had brake fade too??ive had new black diamond discs and new front calipers and the pads are black diamond predator . I contacted PFS parts in Nottingham who supplied the items and they were bemused too, they contacted black diamond who were also bemused as i said maybe if i put a brand new set in?
The garage who done the work assured me all braking components were cleaned before assembly, so any help please as im at a loss what it could be? Could be something simple, discs look fine with no scoring or grooves in them

good to see yoir tackling the niggling issues. :p

Bearings checked, Wheels properly balanced and alignment all spot on?

MBs just dont like non MB parts.

Where were the calipers from.

Have you checked the hydraulic brake circuit, all bled, servo fully functioning?

Had the codes read?

Bearings all good well they were the last time my garage checked them, all balanced and aligned ok having no uneven wear on tyres. Calipers were supplied by my Garage and he assured me they were OEM good quality as he has a reputation to uphold , the circuit has not been checked as far as i know?and servo seems ok and no codes coming up but would not know if they have been read to be honest

I think i might have to let John Haynes Mercedes in Goring have a look at it they will have the diagnostic equipment and software to check everything and hopefully find out what is going on as it is causing a lot of snarling and gnashing of teeth!! Ha!

Are you sure it's a judder coming from the brakes and not a worn suspension joint?
It will feel similar.

I had a lot of work done on the suspension and all passed MOT ok so should not be anything there causing it?

As much as I trusted my mot tester, they're not infallible. I used to get a big judder on my Senator if I booted out of a side road onto the main road despite being recently MOT'd Turned out a large bush at the back had parted company with the centre steel core.

I changed the rear drop links a few weeks ago and all good on rear bushes and ball joints

I
I would be inclined to give the front suspension a check as well.
Phoned my MB indy garage yesterday told him the scenario and he said if you change discs you should change pads too regardless if they have plenty of meat on them, and the brake fade at high speed when brakes hot could be air in the system somewhere and should need bleeding?

Good advice!

I never reuse pads if I change the brake discs
Yes i think i dropped a clanger there, will order a new set and hope that solves it? And get the brakes bled too

Will be booking the beast in the Garage and letting them check the whole braking system front to back and supply them new predator brake pads and see what they come up with?? Needs sorting as it is driving me nuts at the moment, ok for short drives but long distance is a no no for now, Grggghhhh!!!

The Beast is going in the Garage next tues, told them they need to sort it and rectify both issues with judder and air in system as its not safe on a long drive , lets see what they find eh? Should be interesting to say the least?

just a thought, are you sure judder is from front ?, can you feel it via steering wheel ? or brake pedal ?
If brake pedal, could well be a rear brake having an issue.
I am sure your garage will sort it out, and then you will have to have open wallet surgery.

Only happens when im braking , i had a whole new braking system fitted so thats why im taking it back to them to do a full inspection and rectification , if it is something caused by something not done i should have to pay not very much as they give a warranty with their work.....have to wait n see eh?
