Has anyone experienced the following events. Vehicle is a 2002 C180 20,000 miles manual gearbox.

Warning light came on yesterday morning indicating 'stop light' failure. It was raining heavy so I did not get out of the car to check. Later that day (after vehicle had been parked at place of work) the ESP warning activated and in addition the Radio was dead. This ESP warning then became four more as low brake, ABS and others started to chime. The radio remains dead and when the ignition is turned on the brake lights all illuminate.

On contacting Mercedes dealer I am told that vehicle requires recall due to battery problem with a batch of vehicles, of which mine is one.

Is any of this connected to the recall or just coincidence? If not has anyone any idea why my car is suffering.

Regards

Steve

Difficult...first off the battery recall is to replace exploding South African batteries with German ones, if yours has'nt exploded then there is no connection.
Think a star test will be required for this one, front sam unit perhaps.
Best to pop in for the recall, and a star test, although (as is common nowdays) you may find it sorts itself out after the battery is disconnected for a while (during replacement).

mmmmmmmmm

Further glitches........Whist working at home I looked out onto the drive and noticed that my car has now developed a further bad habit in as much as it now keeps flashing the offside headlight

Seems I really do have a confused car. Glad to say I am having it taken to my MB dealer in the morning. :D

Would still love to here from anyone suffering similar problems. Does on the face of it appear to be a 'short' somewhere in the system.
