Hi, I'm looking to replace my front pads and discs on my '54'reg c class, I was looking on e'bay and I come across 'Mintex pads and discs' for £69.00 plus £12.99 delivery, my question is are they any good or should I buy a different set, (any recommendations), many thanks.

We have recently bought front/rear disks and pads for my wifes Mini for £120 off Ebay. They were Mintex and the ebay seller was Peterborough car parts.

They arrived on time and were perfect. An exact match for the OEM parts. You need to be careful as some cheaper pads won't have the grooves in the correct places for things like the brake sensor clip. But the mintex were spot on in the case of our Mini.

I should have asked this before the first thread but I am getting a grating noise from my front brakes, and also when the car was mot'd 2 months ago I was told I would need new pads and discs, but isn't a 'c' class got wear sensors that will tell you when you need new pads.

Yes you do have wear sensors for the pads, the disc have to be replaced when worn past a certain point, as they can become to thin. This min thickness is marked on the center of the disc

Hi,
If your car is a w202 C class, i think you will find you only have 1 front sensor on one front wheel and if i remember correctly nothing on the rear at all.

What a daft idea, though there is only 28% pressure on the rear pads, they can easily get missed as they will go for 3 times the life of the front ones, it took to over 2000, before front and rears were fitted with sensors, even then not on all cars

front brake pad sensors

Hi
Can you anser this question? Front brake pad sensors on my SLK200 2001 R170 because the front pads had indeed worn to the point that the sensors touched the disc and activated the two warning lights on the dash "BAS ESP" and "ABS". Now I have replaced the front pads and sensors, how do a get these two light to go out apart from removing the bulbs?

Sorry Steve the fault you have is nothing to do with the brake pads, you have a fault. Either a speed sensor dirty or fault on the ABS.
Best to get the fault codes read out by an indie

It is well known that a lot of fake parts are made under the Mercedes brand name, so be very careful on ebay.

The DIFFERENCE in price should be small compared to getting a Merc dealer 2 year guarantee on the products, and a perfect fit first time, so I would encourage you to go down that route.

make sure you give the full VIN to the parts person for accurate supply of correct parts.
