C180 Kompressor 04 33,000m. 'Brake wear' malfunction notice has just appeared. How accurate is this as a measure of brake wear? Can this include the ned to adjust the "hand"brake cable? Please help

Hi,
As far as i,m aware the light is to warn that the pads are getting low, some MB's have only a warning on the front though some do have them both front and back. This light "may" also include low brake fluid level though on my car it is a separate light.
Though its not critical, I would get them looked at/replaced within say 500-1000 miles.
