The brake pad wear indicator has just started to occasionally flicker on the dash board of my wifes W202. Does this mean its the front or the back pads? and how long have I got before I screw the Discs up?

It will be the front, and you can go a few hundred miles before you change them.

When the car stops like an old steam train, then you know that you have messed up your disc.

An Indi will do it for under £100, easy to do your self,if you want help, just ask.

Pads cost around £50 for your car,if you go to Parts co,they will only cost around £35 for pads made by Mintex, OE to MB.

HAd a quote from Kwik fit  (sorry for mentioning them) for £78 all in. Is it worth doing them myself for that amount of money?

if you let anyone near your wheels make sure they use a wrench on the security bolt for your alloys if applicaple, an airgun will ruin the bolt.

Brakes are easy enough as mentioned, just google braked pad replacemet etc and you will find it all there. dont forget to check the discs while your at it.

ps avoid QF

Nice one,Pleased its all done.

I look at my pads and disc just before Winter sets in I would rather throw away 10% of pad life than try in the snow.

Just replaced x 4 discs and pads with mintex items at a cost of £112 and about 5 hours in the rain on my drive. Great fun and saved a bob or two.

Do it yourself Concho, its easy enough, you don't need many tools other than a 14mm spanner (IIRC), a screwdriver or two, and a big pair of meaty pliers for pushing the piston back in (with a bit of wood).

The hardest bit about it is getting the muck off your fingers :)

Hi, Has anyone actually used Kwik Fit, the price and lifetime guarantee is very tempting?
