I can now confirm that a single sip of champagne to toast the New Year at midnight will not register on a breathalyser at 1am. I had been drinking Coca Cola all evening but the company was good so I didn't miss the alcohol too much.
We were driving home from the party at a friends house last night, only a couple of miles from home. A drunken pedestrian lurched into the road as we passed and removed the door mirror from the car. I pulled up smartly and found a body lying in the road, not a good start to the New Year. Police arrived first followed by an ambulance. The pedestrian did not seem too badly hurt but may have had some internal injury from the mirror. Police were very sympathetic but went through the full checks including a breath test. It may have helped that one of the officers recognised us as parents of people he was at school with:lol:
Just goes to show, you can avoid drinking and driving and still have a drink related accident.
Have a happy and safe New Year
