This morning I got a 'mirror indicator failure' warning. Sure enough, the n/s mirror flasher isn't.
Folding the mirror in and out I can get it working again so given 2+2 etc, and what I've read on here, I assume the wire's broken.
So, how hard is this to fix DIY?
Anyone know the part number?
She's due in for a service in 3 weeks or so and I'm tempted to just report it, but I don't want to pay someone £200+ to do what I could do myself in an hour or so.
Malcolm, do you have a paper on this job?
cheers
JB.

Just 4cm of 1mm heat shrink would be the best, as they are so thin,,I tried to attach it to the E mail,,but it did not work:D

I think the problem is one of conversion. 1mm is metric whereas scanning is all done using dpi ;-)

So, if i get this right, I need to identify the damaged wire, rejoint it and use a 1mm heatshrink to protect it.
Sounds simple enough - even I should manage that :).

A couple of questions about the procedure though.
Firstly, I'm not absolutely clear on how I remove the glass (ok - I'm scared of breaking it). Presumably there is a spring clip behind the glass that I hook with something? - do you know, is the hook on the inner or outer edge and is it visible with the mirror fully in/out?

secondly the doc talks about a 'sliding tape' - any idea what the means - or is it irrelevant if I fix the wire as discussed?
thanks
JB

Another paper sent :D:D

When using heat shrink flex it must be push back well out of reach of the heat from the solder joint or it will shrink where you left it and you will not be able to slide it along. you can use the tip of the soldering iron to shrink it, once over the joint, or a match.

I do not know what sliding tape is

When the cover and glass is off,,just start the blinker up and you can just move the wires to find the break. It should just feel weak at that point and I just pull the wires to test if they have a broken core, the plastic will stretch.
Use a stranded wire from one of you old PC parts.

When difficult to find,,hold one wire down while you move the other
