Hi Folks,
When I bought my MB from a local garage they had to replace the rear springs. Not sure if they put Merc ones on but it does seem to be lower than other models of the same make. Anyway I was just coming out of a car park recently at literally 5mph driving straight and "Bang"......thought I had run something over!!. It turned out to be a front spring. The problem was now that I was blocking the entrance/exit to the car park and it was Friday late afternoon....I was not going to be popular! I checked under the car and worked out that if I could reverse carefully without turning the steering wheel I would only block 4 people in! As I am reversing there was a horrible grating sound and a then "Whoosh"...The bl###y spring had gone through the one week old tyre!!! Now the fun started...the car was now too low to get a jack under it, people are coming out of their offices to get an early dart, the car would not move and I had to ring a recovery service to help. Had to get a massive crow bar to extract the spring whilst 2 people lifted the front of the car. £380.00 that cost me all in!!! The indie I took it too said that they have a lot of broken springs all year round.

Regards

Andrew
