dear television, my passenger motor was also weak, and although its going by using your suggestion of PTFE spray but i would still like to replace it in the future, could you please send me instructions to remove the door card on my w203

thanks!

by the way i also once knocked on the mirror while removing cover and it disengage and got loose, when i ran the retracting mechanism in and then out it reengaged and locked

There is a sticky in the general section with a link to lots of technical info and disassembly info/videos for many MB models.

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=94315

including your enquiry, 203 door card removal, see link below and navigate to Body / Disassembly / Door Panel

Hi again! Still can't work out how to get the plastic casing off. This is what my innards look like folded against the car. I see a cog which doesn't belong there - ive also found a piece of broken plastic, pictured, which must house the revealed cog... Can anyone tell me what I'm meant to be doing in there to free the casing please?

I think that you are going to have to replace the mirror chassis as no parts for that.

Well, I unclipped the casing after finding this video -

http://bayhas.com/mercedes/w203/contents/home.htm

and i can see what has broken and where the cog ought to be but even if it could be Araldited I don't know how the wee cog would be pushed back into place. I took a picture but my phone died just!

You may have to take the door card off to fit it.

You must replace it, it must be the same type, for instance if you have memory folding mirrors the replacement must be the same.

It looks like the casing for the drive motor final gear has broken.
This is the part that I have had to repair on both of my mirrors.
If the final drive has dropped out and been lost then, unfortunately, you will have to replace the entire mirror mechanism as the part is not sold separately.

I have successfully removed the mirror mechanism for repair, without removing the door card, you just disconnect all of the electrics.

You can remove the motor in entirety and after degreasing the outside of the piece that has broken off and the motor body you can glue it in place with araldite and once set I'd suggest using some epoxy putty to help strengthen the area (forcing it into the reinforcement ribs and onto the motor body.
Once set you can then shave/shape the putty to ensure that it clears the mechanism (ideally done after refitting the motor).
