Hi

As far as I can remember any auto I have ever owned or looked at has some kind of brush or sliding cover or something like that around the auto shift lever.

However, this seems to be absent on the E300 - just a gap down which all sorts of stuff can drop. I've looked hard at as many photos as poss in the gallery and for sale stuff but they all seem to be the same.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this bit of trim?

Thanks

There should be a sliding plastic cover which prevents items falling below the gear lever track. As it resides just under that part of the centre console, you'll still have adrop of a few mil down to it, which can collect dust/crisp crumbs/whatever.
