I've been doing a pre MOT check on my car today and I am amazed at the build quality. It's near enough like a new car underneath. Some of the components that are susceptible to corrosion have a plastic cover over them.

The cynic in me would suggest the rust is hiding underneath the plastic covers…

Having said that the R231 is much improved on the rust front. They also tend to get garaged and not used in the winter much so they generally are in good condition

The R231 is all aluminium except for a roll bar built into the windscreen surround…….

The R231 can top £100k new and the full fat AMG version much more so I would hope they do have good build quality...

I drive mine throughout winter and half it's life it was parked on a driveway, only corrosion is on the wheels..
