Bulb Problem

I own a E200 that was made in 95. It is an automatic and i am trying to locate as to how to fix the light problem on my automatic gear box. There is supposes to be light showing me what drive mode I am in but the light has gone off. If anyone know as to how to check this please let me know. All my fuses seem to be fine. I guess that there must be a bulb located somewhere that possibly has blown out. Thx.

this bulb is a bit of a pain to get to, but cheap to replace. I can't remember what wattage it is off hand but I think it's something like 1.2w and about 50p from the dealership. First, if you have the dual-airbag model you'll need to remove the centre glovebox, two screws inside at the front of the box then it lifts out. Prise out the black plastic gear selector surround/grommet carefully (it's just held in with clips), then there's one screw at the end of the wood centre console to undo. Lift up and out towards the back of the car gently, the wood just sits under the ashtray and is only screwed down at the glovebox end. The window switches etc are stuck to the bottom of the wood, so don't try and remove it completely, just move it carefully to one side so you can get access to the gear selector area. The bulb is under the front part of the selector ('P' end) you'll see a black wire and it sits in a sheath. The wire just pulls out with the bulb attached, then pushes back in the sheath to replace.
