bumby rear suspension

I have a 1987 250td with self levelling rear suspension.The car does raise up and down when the load is increased but the ride is extremely bouncey.Could there be air in the system or are my shocks gone.

Worn shocks are the most likely culprits.

an even more likely culprit is that the regulator spheres are due for replacement.

Cost £70 each from Mercedes and a fairly simple DIY fitting job.

If anyone knows where we can get these spheres cheaper - please let me know as mine are well past their sell by date and I keep putting the job off.

Andy is spot on - it's the accumulators causing the bouncy ride.
