There is a bus lane in Theobald's Road, London, WC1 which features in the top money spinners for Camden Council.
If you have been issued a PCN recently for driving in it, ask for your money back!
I was driving my nephew's S reg Toyota Corolla when it had is picture taken on the 8th of June, 14.14. The Penalty Charge Notice offers a 50% discount for early settlement, £60, a bargain!
The only problem for Camden that there was no sign indication a "working" bus lane nor off the times of operation.
A telephone call the the Council inform me that only the registered keeper can appeal and as my nephew is not the sort of man to do so, I paid. The automatic money collection system asks no questions except detail of the card being used.
A complaint to my local Councilor produced a letter from Camden which is a study in "fudge". It would appear the the enforcement section was not informed that the new sign had not been installed and if I would care to produce documentary evidence that I paid the fine, it will be refunded.
It also stated that I should have appealed as the driver, so, who right and who is wrong?
The question is; what about all the other innocent motorists who have been fined, will Camden contact them to offer a refund?
The time of this bus lane has now changed to 24/7 from 7-11 and 4-7, why, the road is empty on the weekends!
