Buyers Guide

I am looking to buy an estate. I would like to be able to go and see a car and know what to look out for.
I have seen a 1987 300TE auto for sale locally.
I have never driven this model before. What a they like to live with, how good or bad are they on fuel, I am quiet a spirited driver and would like to know how quick would it be, do they handel well, what are the cost of parts or is there another model I should look out for.
