Hi ppl!

I have again located a E320 cdi with a spec that im interested in.

Its a on a 03 plate from a MB dealer, 49K miles and is up for 22K.

I have contacted the dealer and have found out its an import. :(

now 22K seems a little over the top for an 03 import, so how much do you think its worth! Im thinking 20k, but will the dealer just tell me to feck off asking for a 2K discount???

Also can someone tell me (or direct me to a website) which list every standard item/spec on a UK 2003 E320cdi avantgarde, so i can at least check if its to UK spec.

Also when are the cambelts due and roughly how much from MB/indy?

Or should I stay well Clear from imports.....?

all cars are imports anyway, the only difference is UK cars come with 3 yr manufacturer warranty imports 2

i got my w220 from a dealer it was in import and i got 1.5K off the screen price.

you will also get the 1 yr warranty so what you got to lose.

i think many dealers are selling the imported cars because the spec is higher than uk equivalents, as long as the speeedo is in mph - outer and kmh inner then i will be uk spec.

all the mercs come from the same factory anyway!!!

maybe i am justifing that mine is an import, anyone else have any views.

Nothing wrong with an import, though they do sell for slightly less than a UK car.

They do not use cam belts, its a chain, so you have no worries there.

Get the VIN number of the car and check it here, you must include the WDB 17 figures.
http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng

This will tell you where the car was sold and give you every option fitted to the car
As most imports are fully loaded it can be a very good buy.

Imports are OK as long as you get the certificate stating that it was built for sale within the EU; it could be hard to sell on otherwise.

If the car is registered in the UK it must have passed.

My Clk Cabriolet is an import, nothing wrong with them and you often got the standard UK spec plus the spec that was standard in the country it came from, like France etc.

All my Mercs are built in Europe !
Interestingly, when the Motorcycle market became flooded with Grey Imports in the 90's the UK Distributors started to say that Different Bikes were built to different standards for different markets, which quickly was shot down, afterall are vehicles destined for (say) the USA built to a lower standard than those destined for the UK.
