C220 CDI ESTATE 2012
To add to the above buy an estate, loads of room and in my humble opinion look a more complete car than the saloon.
I have a c220 estate and love it.

2008-2010 is pre-facelift 204 so 5 speed "sealed for life" autobox, it's the MY2011 7 speed that has the 1 ATF change at 37.5k miles - even though the owners manual on my 2008 S204 c220 mentions the 37.5k mile ATF change! I had a rather heated discussion with the main dealer service manager while buying my S204, he was adamant that the box was "sealed for life" and if I wanted the ATF changed then I'd have to pay for it. I did, but only a few years later when the car reached 100k miles (as recommended by my indie).

Mine came on 16" wheels and was a bit wallowy, I changed to 17" and it's much better, I personally would not go bigger as I think 18's or larger would destroy the ride quality. If you want Comand satnav, check that the installed maps are later than 2014-15, early 204 Comand had the nav partition on the Comand HDD too small, and it's £500 at comand.co.uk to fix it (ask me how I know!!). Full leather and heated seats are lovely, I've also had front parking sensors and reversing camera installed and really like them. The estate is fantastic - our tailgate is electric, opens with a button on the key (or on the drivers door) and closes by a big switch on the tailgate.

It's a fantastic car - bought ours (second hand) in March 2012 and have no intention of changing it - ever!!

Welcome, just to be boring...auto is the only thing to have, and I tend to agree with the others that the estate is the more complete package.

To add to that I don't like Estates, I think the saloon looks a far nicer car and if you don't need the room what is the point of an estate, they are like driving a hearse. A saloon will also generally be a quieter drive. Do NOT buy a Manual, not nice !!!:) And by the way Michael, welcome to the forum :)

Gazwould, I'm pretty certain my car was a demonstrator at MB Ashford from new, sold by them at about 6 months old, serviced by them at required intervals then taken in PX against a new car. When I bought it (from MB Ashford, used approved) I went through the service history (I was given the actual service invoices when I bought the car), it had not had an ATF change (mileage about 66k) although the owners manual with the car said it should be changed at 37.5K. I took the car and documents back to MB Ashford and had a long and at times heated "discussion" with the salesman and service manager and got precisely nowhere, they flat refused to change the ATF as the box is "sealed for life". They had, however, done the B service that was due 3-4 months after I bought the car and did not charge for it - but I was buying 2 days before the end of a quarter!

If it's the 646 diesel lump with the 5g box (5 speed auto) then, properly serviced, you have a mega-mileage reliable car.
Still favourite taxi wagons in Poland, although Tesla is playing catchup now.

The critical date is 1st April 2017, when the road tax rates changed. Our SLC250d which I believe has the same engine is £30 first registered Dec 16.

sealed for life just means of that era it was not a service item.
They are the same as any seviceable gearbox and should be done, take it to an indy, the dealer says the computer says no.
Keep it maintained,

Welcome Michael.

Do you live in or near any major urban areas? Reason I ask is diesel is coming under increasing pressure in these areas e.g. London and ULEZ zones expanding from time to time.

If that above is true for you, steer away from diesel, imho.

Oh and as some have already said, an auto estate is the way to go but I am biased. In all seriousness though, loading/unloading an estate boot is such a breeze and can double up as a nice seat if ever needed :)

EDIT: Poor mans tailgate event seating ;)
