hi folks, have a 1996 c180 auto. Been told that it needs new plug seals , the existing bieng worn and allowing oil to reach the plugs /leads causing a slight misfire at times.Anyone have any knowledge of this, any thoughts would be appreciated.Slight misfire only at or detectable at tickover. regards jon-h.

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
This would mean worn valves and a head off job, I would open up the gap in the plugs a little over the normal

Do you mean oil contamination on the outside of the plugs, if so you need to replace the rocker cover gasket and the 4 seals above the plug recesses. The seals can be a bit trcky to fit, there is a special tool for this.

hi folks, thanks for replies, the oil is on the outside of the plugs , the theory bieng that it is causing a misfire at times when contaminating the leads. There is certainly a visible amount of oil lying around the plugs.New seals bieng fitted, quoted two hour job by an independant. Not attempting it myself as apparently as said, they can be really awkward to fit,. Regards jon-h.
