Out on top comes the c class as in heading.

it will be 96/97 manual about 70th on clock with full history cost about 6 thousand.

anybody help with fuel consumption figures urban / extra urban please ?
any other info I will need ?

Read the threads on this website very carefully, particularly about service quality and rust problems.

They are a great car to drive but some can have a litany of problems.

I have 81k on an E320 cdi, but very disillusioned. Anything that goes wrong will go wrong, then it will take three attempts to fix it. I reckon these days the reason there are secondhand Mercs available is that someone is getting rid of a troublesome car.

Hi,
I have had my 94 220d for a year now. Lovely car to drive, a bit slow but after 113k miles there are no rattles or squeeks and on a run it still turns in 40 mpg plus. I use redex diesel additive which made a real difference.
The car was owned by my father for 5 years and has a full MB service history (a bit costly !).
My father bought a 'w' plate 220cdi and that is very lively with loads of torque although he thinks 'my' car is a smoother ride and a bit less 'tinny'.
Air leaks from the small plastic pipes from the injector pump can be a problem although I havn't experienced this.
