Hi,

Typical, get the car back from the garage to fix a problem (new condenser on AC) and it has a new one.

The fob opens the auto boot okay but the auto close on the button only closes the boot half way and it re-opens as if there was an obstacle. There is nothing in the way. The boot closes manually okay and the action is smooth so nothing seems stuck.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

There are 2 anti pinch sensors - 1 each side of the door. They look like rubbers strips. Make sure they are clean.

Also check the boot lift hydraulic level isn't low.

Beat me to it.
Have this error code on my W251 (for a pinch strip) according to icarsoft. Cant actually see the pinch strip. So it can wait for now.

Thanks.

Went to have a look and could not see what these might be. Tried closing the boot on the button and it worked this time. Confusing but I guess it might happen again.

The sensor issue would make sense. Any more clues what they look like? It’s an S204 2008.

My W251 and your car must be related. I have not had 6 months trouble free motoring out of the Beast. Yes I am OCD and my cars are immaculate, My W220 is by far the best totally hassle free, Then W205 also no issues, the W251 another ball game.

LK post abobe has now got me looking at pinch strips.....grrrrr
