C Class hesitates

I have a petrol C180 which has done 98k and has a full service history. It has recently had a new cat. I have noticed that periodically it hesitates, whilst not stalling it loses power, the revs drop and the car shakes. Reving make no difference. A new fuel filter seems to have made matters worse.

I have wondered about the cat and possible oxygen sensor playing up but cannot understand why it doesn't happen more often.

Any ideas anyone?

My local MB specialist has advised a full ecu check which is main dealer only. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Thanks

i have had the same problem an it was intermittant as well. you can either wait until it gets worse and then it will be easier to diagnose or you can take it to someone with a merc computer and hope it happens whilst its plugged in. It sounds like a Main Airflow Sensor problem but you won't know unless it totally fails or can be detected,
good luck!

I agree, it sounds like your MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) could be starting to fail. You need to get the car hooked up to a Star Diagnostics computer to be sure though.
