HI, Does any one know if there is a way to bypass the pre wired phone kit in a 2005 c class to join it to a motorola v3i ? If I was to plug in the usb cable into my phone and then cut the wires on the other end of it , is there any way they can then be joined into the cradle end in the arm rest?(Cutting out the cradle plug) Are these type of cable set ups universal in how they work. Surely there has to be a way to patch it in??

I do not think it will work, in fact it will not work, you have to use the correct cradle for Nokia,Siemens and Sny Ericsson, by a phone cheap on E bay, mine cst £22.00.

I know the feeling, the cradles are £131.00, nothing else works with them, had this question many times.

Dan,
have you thought about getting a fitted bluetooth kit, granted you cant navigate via the steering wheel but you can use voice commands.
I had a sony W800i and bluetooth kit in my old C class and it worked great

If the phone is a new one, you may be able to use the MB bluetooth cradle. Its £400 (ouch) but it saves you being locked in.
No you can't cut the leads though. The software is in the cradle and the comms from the cradle to the car's systems will be proprietory.

6310i still a good phone and has less issues than the new all singing and dancing ones. You could get one and divert your flash phone to it whilst driving so you can answer those important calls.

I cant understand all of the fuss over phones, my 6210 stays in the car all the time, all for the sake of a SIM card.
