Hi,
I am looking for help regarding roof bars for my 2003 C Class C220 CDI SE Auto, Chassis No. W203.
Not too difficult I here you say and originally I thought the same but after extensive searching I have run into some serious confusion.
My C Class has the panoramic roof design, the handbook explains that the vehicle can be fitted with a roof rack or bars, it has the two little arrows on the inner, upper of both the drivers and passenger doors to show the positioning point of the front bar and the rear fixed quarter light windows have an obvious position within the rubber surround to position the rear bar but when I have spoken to specialist roof bar and box retailers regarding the compatibility of the roof bars sold by them with the panoramic roof they have all to date said that the sets won’t fit and there is not a set for this car design.
Surely this can’t be right, the Germans wouldn’t make a vehicle that couldn’t take a set of roof bars for carrying a set of skis or a top box etc. and the handbook would surely say that it could not take a set of roof bars or a roof rack.
Am I getting to bogged down with the compatibility of the roof bars and will a set of roof bars for a C Class of my year and chassis No. fit perfectly regardless of the panoramic roof, I realise the bars my impede the opening of the roof but at least I will be able to get my skis on holiday with me.
Many thanks in advance
