Hi,

I recently become the owner of a 2006 C class 180K estate, my first Mercedes! I notice a couple of days ago that the car is lower on the n/s rear compared to the o/s rear (and compared to the front). The distances from wheel centre vertically to the wheel arch are: n/s 356mm, o/s 364mm. Is this normal? I suspected maybe the n/s spring was broken but having jacked the car up I couldn't see anything obviously wrong.
Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Mike

When the springs break it is usually the last 3 to 4" that breaks off, or it could have a wrong spring fitted

Have you checked that it could be the spring perch near the top of the wing?

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. No I haven't checked the spring perch, thanks for the suggestion.

Almost certainly the spring- they can break anywhere- usually where they sit in the suspension arm but I seen a few at the top also. Not obvious till you drop the arm down.

If it was mine, I would jack up on the diff and check all the joints. Probably change both springs. They drop out easily after disconnecting the shox and bottom end.
