C Class W203 Instrument Cluster display faulty

Hi Folks

Can anyone advise me whether I can attempt a repair on missing pixels in my instrument cluster display? I have lost the top 6/7/8 lines of the display and MB advise a new cluster complete at £500 ish or I have found a second hand unit at approx £200.

I'm up for a challenge! Will I have to get MB to re-set the mileage afterwards anyway?

This is my first time with a thread! I await any response with interest.

take a look on he web lots of people specialise
i wouln not try it myself as it could get you into all sorts of jams
i belive some cars dashs are coded so swaping wont work
