Hi,
If it were an automatic I'd definitely go for 75 Ah. With your manual you'd probably be OK with 62 Ah, but I'd still go for the higher capacity myself. However auto electrics are not my particular forte and someone will probably come on with a different opinion. W100VSE Exide Car Battery 12V 72AH is what was fitted to my C280 as a replacement 3 years ago. Cost £81 incl. VAT fitted by ATS at the time.

As long as the price is reasonable why not follow the indie's recommendation? Better too much capacity than too little. Bear in mind though that he may just have the larger ones in stock and his margin of profit may be bigger on those ones. What's he quoting - £70 to £80 ? If so I'd go for it.

The price seems OK. I can see no reason not to go for it. Why would there be a compatibility issue - I don't understand???

One point to remember.

A fully charged small battery is far more efficient than partly charged big one.

My question is if the altenator can ¨afford¨ the 100Ah?

If your demamds on the electics on not that High, then no problem in having the 100 battery, it is only when the current demand is high that the alternator would need to be up rated to match
