Just got my 1998 R C180 Auto with 91000mls back form the body shop, it had a minor front end shunt that amongst other things meant a new Air box and the bit the Maf sensor housing fits (rubber tube) into after the airbox Air box (new) - Maf bit (old) - rubber tube to clasp ontop of engine (new)
The MAF sensor and the ridgid plastic tube that it fits into have not been changed just the bits either side.
At tick over there is a definate hissing sound coming from the right hand side of the dash, the hissing goes under moderate aceleration but returns when a constant throttle is maintained.
heater controls etc checked and noise remains constant no matter which setting heater /fan is on. Heater and fan work fine.
Any ideas would be most welcome, body shop is ringing mercedes mainstealer tomorrow and would like to be well informed as opposed to being fobbed off.
