could well be the Crank position sensor on the bell housing.

It is the number one essential signal to the engine computer.

Getting the fault codes readings would be useful.

Is it a new car for you ?

Where you based ?

Perhaps fuel starvation, what happens immediately after it cuts out, doses the engine make any attempt to fire, even briefly?

As Kth286 says it sounds like the crank sensor, my understanding is it will only show fault code when it won,t start. eg. driving down road, engine stops read codes immediatly and it would show a fault. As soon as the car starts the fault clears.

Sollution

Took to main dealer
they left it idling until it cut out as no fault found on diagnostics
It was the crancase sensor as suggested so thanks for that
Cost £240
They did want £290 until I said I would take car somewhere else so watch em!
