C180 Diff: how model/year specific do I have to be?

Hello,
First time here. Looks like a very helpful site!
We have a C180 Automatic saloon, Feb.'95.
There is a whine/drone fseems to be coming from the back, there most of the time but
particularly loud at certain speeds (say 30-45, and 75-85).
The garage did 'check' it when doing a general service and say it is the diff and that they can fit one if I get hold of itbut for this age of vehicle a MB replacement would be silly.
I have found some dealers on eBay who have diffs but I don't know if I have to go for exact match i.e. C180 Auto 1995 or if I have some flexibility in either the model or date. Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the fast reply!
Unfortunately when I tried the second link all the links on that page for the 220s went to a page saying only
Узлы и агрегаты
which translates to "Units and units" (??)

and on the detailed first page you sent me , the individual part no links go to a page saying
Если вы видите данное сообщение, значит система не может показать информацию по коду: gmbA2023502014
[ If you see this message, it means the system can not display information on the code: gmbA2023502014 ]
etc

Maybe it's my computer/browser having a disagreement with their computer...

Meanwhile I saw on the detailed parts list the notes about vehicle no's to which different diffs were fitted, e.g.
UP TO DATE:
A 136773
F 091295
AUSTRALIA UP TO END MODELYEAR 94
ALSO INSTALLED IN
A 136775,A 136783,A 136786,A 136792,A ..... (100's of numbers here)

or

FROM DATE:
A 436536
F 483848
EXCEPT CODE 806
ALSO INSTALLED IN VEHICLE TO A 436535, F 483847 WITH CODE 807
etc. I know my identification/chassis no. from the MOT. Is there a way to find out the magic A number of my car? I guess that affects the particular one of three different part no's I need...

Thanks for the guidance, I really appreciate it.

Not sure how long the MB agents keep the vehicle parts info but you could try Mercedes Oxford (inchcape) i have always found them very helpful. Their website is www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk They will probably give you the correct part numbers for the different vehicles.
