I own a 1998 C180 estate and want to connect a socket for the electrics for a caravan/ trailer. Is there a socket/plug already hidden somewhere on the vehicle or do I have to connect to the wiring behind the lights on both side of the vehicle.

Hackers.

I cant answer this one directly, as i've never fitted a tow bar to the vehicle in question.

Have a look around inside the boot area, see if there appears to be a spare multi plug, you will be looking for one with 6 terminals. If you find one, stick a terst light in it and see if it lights up in correspondence to either brake lights, position lights, or indicators. If yes you are laughing, if not try another.

As an alternative to this, contact your local dealer, or REPUTABLE tow bar fitters.
