Is that the first three digits of engine number? then it is 111

There are so many versions of it all, if there is only the one ECU then the one in your picture will be it, as I understand it, it is all motronic all combined in one box, I can find nothing for cars late 04 to early 97 and that is my problem

Ben's ecu and some advice for me

Ben glad you are at least eliminating some causes of your problem. I agree with Malcolm. there are many out there now as there are many of these cars being broken so the price will drop.

Sorry to hijack your problem but I posted a querie on my vito 113 that has the same petrol engine. Malcolm, where do I find out if one of these 111 C class ecu's will fit my van. It has the same engine. Can you swap these ecu's. iget the feeling mercedes makes all these black boxes with different numbers but surely if it is a 111 16v 4 cylinder engine, the ecu programme must be the same. the petrol vito is rare in the uk but there are thousands of c class 180's and 200's with 111 engines??? Any guidance before I go buy an ecu that costs more than my van. Who are the trustworthy tester/repairers

Good luck Ben

Early cars are not subject to being coded to the car, this did not happen till around 1998-9

With many of these faults you do need to have the pin out of the ecu, that is the only way to know if the ECU is getting power, some immobilizers kill the ECU as from motronic and on. There are 9 versions of the 111 ECU,s, and my info goes by date of the build, that makes it hard when the car is not infront of you

Malcolm, would an ecu from a 1995 model fit mine?

if you have the second ecu in your photo it's under the washer bottle so a quick look will confirm what type is fitted to your car & make things clear

I do have this and I removed it to see if i can find a similar one but the garage told me there is another one and that's the one that may be faulty.
