C180 Help

Hi,

Could anyone advise me. Every morning my 98' C180 won't tick over and cuts out (cold engine?!). When I set off the car stays in the low gears and takes a really long time to change up a gear, so keeps me at about 20 -30 MPH. This wouldn't be a problem but I pull out of a busy junction and before I know it there are a lot of cars up my bum after having to slow down for me.

Any ideas, is it a garage job??????????????

you didn't say if it was diesel or petrol,

has it been serviced recently ? spark plugs changed ?

search the forums here for the MAS/MAF sensor, they can get dirty and cause all sorts of crappy driving experiences, easy to fix

cheers

Re the gearbox they are designed to hold onto the lower gears to warm up the CAT, but it could be worth getting the fluid and filter changed as its doubtful if its ever been done, and should be changed at 40k miles
