i am looking for a wiring diagram for the dash panel insert (instrument cluster)
the speedo is not working. i have checked the voltage to the engine ecm and the abs ecu,. the vss in the rear axle is working correctly.
i am also looking for the plug (somewhere in the vehicle!) where the vss wiring seperates to go off to the engine ecm and the abs ecu???
i am looking for the speedo feed signal (which pin in the plug?)to the dash panel / cluster so's to be able to check that the voltage is making its way to the gauge,.. i think from reading other posts that the dash panel cluster can be problematic??
i know from the diagrams that i have used to repair the abs, the signal must split somewhere to go to the dash / abs / engine managment????? just dont know where??

The instrument cluster in the W202 can suffer from a problem where the dial needles stick to there stop pins, this can affect some or all of the needles at different times.

The symptoms are that the needle stays on the pin for several minutes and can suddenly come to life and work as normal, a test to see if you have this problem is to give the top of the cluster a whack with your fist while driveing, the shock will sometimes release the needle from the sticky pin.

Sorry, I knew that the C180 is absent but never thought to say that to you, would the diagram not be the same for the C220 on the list, can’t see that there would be any difference.
That’s the only diagram that I know of on the web.

any help,..please?!!!!!!

if found that the signal wire that comes from the vss to the engine managment ecu pins 1 - 14 are recieving a signal from the vss with the ignition on, but,... and this is the good bit,..
when i disconnect the binnacle and continuity test between the engine ecu harness pin 14 as 1 is earth, i have continuity to the binnacle harness (the plug that goes into the left hand side of the binnacle) red and white wire, (not sure if its red tracer on white, or white tracer on rred,..SORRY!! im at home again now,.) This wire is also giving me 5v's with the engine harness disconnect from the ecu if i earth the meter instead of continutiy testing it to the engine ecu harness,..
this to me seems like a broken wire?? which is leading me to believe that maybe thats what has damaged the speedometer.
i have removed the speedometer from the binaccle and cleaned the pins, one of the pins looked like it was melted a little around the base / plastic??? which is why i think this way,..
i have trawled the web for hours and cant find a single diagram relating to this vehicles electrical system, even different torrents and file shares but still nothing,..
i am probably looking at a Haynes Manual, as i think this os going to be the cheapest option,.,...?

if you can do anything for me then i would be very appreciative

I had a look in my own manual, their aren’t any wiring diagrams relating to ABS/speedometer, there are diagrams for the cluster but the relate to bulbs only.
Attached is the only mention of the speedometer.

after replacing and refitting all components the vehicle was driven and the speedometer now works,.

i guess when i had the back wheels raised only one was turning, or maybe they were rotating opposite due to the differential???,..
