Hi
Earlier this week I had the ‘prop shaft flex coupling’ on my 1996 W202 replaced at my local garage. Up until that point my instrument panel was working and had never been a problem before but when I drove away after the fitting none of the gauges on the instrument panel were working.
I returned to the garage and the mechanic told me that there wouldn't be a connection between the work on the prop shaft work and the instrument panel failure. He suggested it was just a coincidence that the failure happened when it did.
Later that day the instrument panel started working again. In the several days since it has been temperamental but it’s been working more often than not.
A friend has said that he thinks that on some old Mercedes the instrument panel was driven off the prop (if that’s the case with my vehicle there clearly could be a connection) but he thought that would not be the case with my 1996 W202.
Can anyone advise me please and suggest a possible solution?
Many thanks
