My friend's C180 has been stood for a year and this morning we decided to take it to MOT and it passed all ok. Now the engine does not start, battery is fully charged, its not the alarm / immob, because the LED has gone off when it is de-activated.

Its as if the gear selector is not in park nor neutral (but they are).

Can someone shed some light please?

Thanks

J

Does it mak any noise lkke a click of a solenoid, I would put a volt meter or test lamp on the small wire on the starter, and then turn to start where the bulb will light up and there is 12 volt present, this being the case the starter motor has failed

Malcolm

I have been messing with it all day in sweat and it has driven me mad. Even tho i got it going in the end...

Please do not laugh, it sounds very very stupid but frustrating...

The battery is knackered, but i had jumped it with a battery pack that is in full working order with charge (but just not enough charge)

Of course my first reaction will not be the power as the engine is not turning over at all and not as if its turning but slowly and gradually stopped.

I looked thru all other poss like the K38 relay (not present in the car) and startor and other crap and in the end, i jumped it with a hard wired trolley booster and she fired up...

What a nightmare..!!

So, thanks for all input guys.. i hope this is the last thing on this 202.. :(
