Hi

Looking for some advice on a few minor things, I just bought my first mercedes a 1996 c190 esprite, I have a few minor things that I would like advioce on how to fix, first thing the outside temp gauge doesnt light up on the dash,how do you fix it, and lastly the electric ariel is jammed halfway, it goes up and never all the way back down, I have used wd40 etc but it never goes below a cetain level

to fix the aerial my guess is remove it entirely and disassemble the device, inside those electric aerials is a plastic 'coil' that is pulled or pushed in order to raise lower the aerial, it may be damaged or most likely its full of 'gunk' and blocked, thereby stopping the normal 'flow'

you'll have to remove the inner lining of the boot on the aerial side, then disconnect the wiring from the aerial, next remove the nuts that hold the aerial in its place, once it is loose you should be able to pull it down and out of the car via the boot.

disassembly would be best on a big kitchen table so you don't lose any bits, if its beyond repair simply purchase a new one and fit the replacement

Re the aerial you can buy a new rod section £15 from MB and easy to fit. hope you have not got to much WD40 in it, they are better off without anything.
